Heavy Rains Continue in Bengaluru and Karnataka

Bengaluru: Not just Hyderabad, neighbouring Bengaluru and several parts of Karnataka are also witnessing widespread rainfall as monsoon activity strengthens across the state.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rainfall across Karnataka over the next three days, warning of thunderstorms, lightning and strong winds in several districts.

Many regions, including Bengaluru, witnessed cloudy weather and intermittent showers on Friday, bringing relief from rising temperatures.

Cloudy Weather Brings Relief in Bengaluru

In Bengaluru, cloudy conditions prevailed throughout the day, creating cooler weather after recent temperature rises.

Several localities in the city reportedly received moderate rainfall during afternoon and evening hours. Weather officials have predicted that similar weather conditions are likely to continue through the weekend.

Both Bengaluru Urban and Bengaluru Rural districts are expected to witness moderate rainfall along with chances of thunderstorms and lightning activity.

Coastal Karnataka Likely to Receive Heavy Rain

According to the IMD, coastal districts including Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada are expected to receive widespread rainfall, especially on Sunday.

These regions may experience continuous showers accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds at isolated places. Authorities have advised residents in low-lying and vulnerable areas to remain cautious.

North Karnataka Districts Under Rain Alert

Several North Karnataka districts are also expected to receive rainfall.

Districts such as Belagavi, Dharwad, Gadag, Haveri, Bidar, Kalaburagi, Yadgir and Raichur may witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and winds ranging between 30 and 40 kmph.

Meanwhile, Bagalkote, Koppal and Vijayapura districts are likely to receive light showers and isolated thunderstorm activity.

Rain Forecast for South and Central Karnataka

Weather officials have also predicted rainfall across southern and central Karnataka districts.

Mysuru, Mandya, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Kolar, Chikkaballapur, Tumakuru, Hassan, Kodagu, Chikkamagaluru, Shivamogga, Davanagere, Chitradurga, Ballari and Vijayanagara districts are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

The Malnad region, which traditionally receives heavy monsoon rainfall, is likely to witness intensified rain activity over the coming days.

Authorities Issue Public Advisory

Authorities have advised motorists, farmers and residents to remain alert during periods of heavy rain, thunderstorms and gusty winds.

Farmers have been urged to take preventive measures to protect crops and agricultural equipment from weather-related damage.

Residents have also been advised to monitor official weather updates and avoid unnecessary travel during intense rainfall or lightning conditions.
