Karnataka CM Challenges Amit Shah to Debate on State Treasury
In a bold move, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has issued a challenge to Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to the state. Amid discussions on the state’s financial situation, Siddaramaiah openly invited Shah to a public debate to discuss the status of Karnataka’s treasury. He asserted that he could demonstrate that the state’s treasury isn’t depleted due to guarantee schemes, as alleged.
Shah’s visit to Mysuru included visits to the Chamundeshwari temple and meetings with state BJP leaders to strategize for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Responding to Shah’s claims about the state treasury, Siddaramaiah called for transparency and accountability through an open debate.
Accusing BJP leaders of attempting to undermine the state’s guarantee schemes, Siddaramaiah questioned their intentions towards the people of Karnataka. He challenged them to openly declare their opposition and discontinue similar schemes in states under BJP governance.
Furthermore, Siddaramaiah accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of appropriating the state’s schemes and branding them as his own, despite previous opposition. He highlighted the BJP’s historical resistance to programs aimed at aiding the needy, alleging a persistent anti-poor stance.
The chief minister underscored the importance of social justice initiatives and criticized the BJP’s purported disregard for the poor, farmers, women, and workers of Karnataka. He emphasized the need for actions aligned with true devotion to God, rather than superficial gestures.
Siddaramaiah’s challenge and critical remarks shed light on the ongoing political discourse surrounding the state’s welfare programs and the central government’s role in supporting them. As tensions escalate, the call for a public debate signifies a push for accountability and transparency in governance.
