Jagga Reddy Opposes HYDRA Demolition in Sangareddy
In recent developments, another Congress leader has raised concerns over the actions of the Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Monitoring and Protection Agency (HYDRA). Senior Congress leader T Jayaprakash Reddy, popularly known as Jagga Reddy, voiced his objections against the HYDRA’s planned demolition of illegal structures in his constituency, Sangareddy.
The HYDRA demolition in Sangareddy has caused panic among local residents, and Jagga Reddy made it clear that he stands with his electorate during times of crisis. He stated that the people in are worried about losing their homes due to the ongoing demolition activities carried out by HYDRA.

Call for Consultation Before Demolition
Jagga Reddy’s primary concern is the lack of communication between the HYDRA officials and local representatives. He urged HYDRA Commissioner AV Ranganath to consult him before carrying out any demolition in Sangareddy. According to Jagga Reddy, the chief minister of Telangana, A Revanth Reddy, had earlier stated that HYDRA’s jurisdiction would be confined within the Outer Ring Road (ORR) of Hyderabad, and no demolitions should be conducted outside this zone.
“The Chief Minister had made it clear that HYDRA demolition in Sangareddy is outside its jurisdiction. There should not be any action taken without proper communication. I request the officials to inform me in advance so that I can discuss the matter with the Chief Minister,” said Jagga Reddy.
No Panic Among Residents, Says Jagga Reddy
The HYDRA demolition in Sangareddy has triggered anxiety among the local population. Jagga Reddy emphasized that the government and its officials should ensure they do not cause panic among the people. He reiterated that he would oppose any action that would harm his constituents and stated that demolitions should be planned with the well-being of the residents in mind.
“Officials need not go ahead with any demolition without discussing the matter with me. I will represent the concerns of the people and ensure that the issue is discussed with the Chief Minister,” Jagga Reddy asserted.
Danam Nagender’s Criticism of HYDRA Actions
Jagga Reddy is not the only Congress leader to criticize the HYDRA. Danam Nagender, another senior Congress leader, has also openly spoken out against the agency. Nagender recently faced legal issues when a case was registered against him for allegedly demolishing the compound wall of a park in Banjara Hills.
Nagender’s criticism extends beyond his personal case. He questioned the state government and the HYDRA for targeting poor residents while leaving large commercial properties untouched. He specifically mentioned that properties like Prasad’s IMAX Theater and Jala Vihar, both built near Hussain Sagar Lake, have been ignored during the demolition process.
“It is not fair to demolish the houses of poor people while big commercial structures remain intact,” said Nagender. He called on the government to make alternative arrangements for those who would lose their homes due to HYDRA’s actions.
Demand for Fairness and Alternatives
Both Jagga Reddy and Danam Nagender have stressed the need for fair treatment of residents affected by the HYDRA demolition in Sangareddy and elsewhere. Nagender has urged the government to provide housing alternatives to those who lose their homes due to the demolitions.
“The marking of houses for demolition has been done hastily, and people are suffering as a result. The government must provide homes for evictees in nearby areas so that their livelihoods are not disrupted,” Nagender stated.
