Godavari flood warning Bhadrachalam
Telangana: Water levels in the Godavari River reached 48 feet, the second flood warning level, at 2:00 pm on Monday, prompting swift action from state authorities. Telangana state minister of Revenue and Housing, Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, is scheduled to visit Bhadrachalam to inspect flood-prone areas.
In response to the rising waters, the state government has established over 50 rehabilitation centers in and around Bhadrachalam. Local officials are closely monitoring the situation from a control room set up at the sub-collector’s office. The escalating water levels pose a serious threat to many villages situated along the flood-prone riverbed, which risk being washed away.
Local government officials are preparing for rescue and relief operations as 49,574 cusecs of water have been released into the Godavari from the Taliperu Reservoir.
