Hyderabad water supply disruption

Hyderabad: Residents of several areas in Hyderabad should prepare for a temporary interruption in their water supply due to essential pipeline repair works. The disruption will begin at 6 am on Tuesday and continue until 6 am on Wednesday, affecting multiple neighborhoods under the Manjeera Phase-I project.

The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) has announced that these repairs are crucial for the ongoing maintenance and enhancement of the city’s water supply infrastructure. The specific site of the maintenance work is at the Patancheru valve zone, which plays a significant role in distributing drinking water to various parts of the city.

As a result, water supply will be interrupted in several key areas, including BHEL Township, Hyderabad Central University, Patancheru Industrial Area, Patancheru, RC Puram, Ashok Nagar, Jyothi Nagar, Lingampally, Chandanagar, Gangaram, Madeenaguda, Hafeezpet, Doyens Colony, and the SBI Training Centre. Residents in these areas are advised to make necessary arrangements and store sufficient water to meet their needs during the interruption period.

The HMWSSB assures that all efforts are being made to complete the repair works promptly and efficiently, minimizing inconvenience to the public. However, due to the complexity of the task, the water supply will inevitably be affected for a full 24-hour period.

The authorities have requested the cooperation and understanding of the residents during this maintenance period. They emphasize the importance of these repairs in ensuring a reliable and safe drinking water supply in the future. Such proactive maintenance efforts are essential to prevent larger, more disruptive issues that could arise from neglected infrastructure.

Residents are also encouraged to inform their neighbors and share this information to ensure that everyone in the affected areas is aware of the upcoming water supply interruption. Those who might face difficulties due to the disruption, particularly vulnerable groups such as the elderly or those with health conditions, are advised to seek assistance from neighbors or local community groups.

The HMWSSB will provide updates and information through various communication channels, including social media and local news outlets, to keep the public informed about the progress of the repair works and any changes to the schedule.

In summary, while the temporary disruption in water supply will pose an inconvenience, it is a necessary measure to improve the city’s water infrastructure. By undertaking these essential repairs, the HMWSSB aims to ensure a more reliable and efficient water supply system for Hyderabad’s residents in the long term.
