Indian Student’s Family Seeks Emergency Visa
Hyderabad: An Indian student, Mohammed Amir Ahmed, who is pursuing a master’s degree in the US, was involved in a serious road accident and is currently hospitalized. Following the accident, his family has requested the Minister of External Affairs to facilitate an emergency visa from the US Consulate in Hyderabad so they can visit him. Amir’s brother, Mohammed Zaker Ahmed, has also asked the minister to instruct the Consulate General of India in Chicago to provide assistance.
According to the request, Mohammed Amir Ahmed, a resident of Medchal, Telangana, went to the US two years ago to pursue an MBA at Trine University in Detroit, Michigan. On July 20, 2024, he was hit by a fast-moving car while crossing the road, resulting in multiple fractures. He is now in serious condition and on a ventilator at the University of Chicago Hospital.
Given the critical nature of his condition, Mohammed Zaker Ahmed has urged the Minister to ensure that the Consulate General of India in Chicago visits the hospital. Additionally, he has requested that the US Consulate in Hyderabad grant the family an emergency visa to visit Mohammed Amir Ahmed.
This is not the first instance where the US Consulate in Hyderabad has issued a visa for such purposes. Previously, it granted a visa to the family of Syed Mazahir Ali, another student from Hyderabad, who was attacked in Chicago on February 4.
