Police Operation Began Before Dawn

According to local reports, police teams, including officers from Salboni Police Station in Paschim Medinipur and personnel from Kolkata Police, reached Banerjee’s Patuapara residence shortly after 3 a.m.

Central security force personnel reportedly stood guard outside the premises while police officers entered the residence.

The TMC alleged that police personnel forcibly entered the house after breaking open a lock. However, officials had not immediately responded to these allegations at the time of reporting.

Political Tension Escalates

The development reportedly occurred just days after the West Bengal CID questioned Abhishek Banerjee in connection with an alleged forged-signature case related to the state assembly.

In recent days, multiple agencies are also said to have issued summons to the TMC MP, further intensifying legal scrutiny surrounding him.

The police operation continued for more than four hours, with officials reportedly seen entering and exiting the residence while holding discussions outside the premises.

Mamata Banerjee Rushes to Residence

The sudden police action prompted former West Bengal chief minister and TMC supremo Mamata Banerjee to rush to Abhishek Banerjee’s residence after receiving information about the raid.

Her arrival further heightened political drama surrounding the incident, with party leaders closely monitoring developments.

Political observers believe the incident could deepen the already tense atmosphere between opposition parties and investigating agencies in West Bengal.

Abhishek Banerjee Speaks Out

After emerging from the residence, Abhishek Banerjee addressed reporters and alleged that police officials had broken open a lock before conducting a detailed search operation.

He reportedly claimed that authorities searched every room inside the house during the operation.

However, police officials did not immediately reveal the exact case under which the search was conducted, leading to speculation and political debate.

Background of the Legal Battle

The raid comes amid growing legal and political challenges surrounding Abhishek Banerjee.

The TMC leader has recently faced questioning by investigating agencies over allegations linked to forged signatures and other matters reportedly under inquiry.

The developments have triggered strong reactions from political circles, with TMC leaders alleging political targeting while opposition parties demand accountability.
