In a major anti-drug operation, Hyderabad Police arrested a 39-year-old suspended CISF constable for allegedly possessing 158 kilograms of dry ganja worth nearly Rs 79 lakh.
The accused, identified as Panagudu Shiva Krishna, is a native of Andhra Pradesh’s Alluri Sitharama Raju district. Police said he was earlier commissioned as a constable in the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and later deputed to the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF).
According to investigators, Krishna allegedly entered the narcotics trade after realising the high financial returns associated with drug smuggling during his service period.
Financial Debt Led to Drug Trade
Police stated that Krishna was reportedly struggling with financial debts and allegedly decided to enter the illegal narcotics business for monetary gains.
Investigators claim he worked as a transporter of ganja and other narcotic substances on a commission basis.
He allegedly procured large quantities of ganja from cultivators and distributed them to peddlers operating across several states, including:

- Andhra Pradesh
- Karnataka
- Maharashtra
Officials suspect he played an important role in an interstate drug trafficking network.

Police revealed that Krishna allegedly used his CISF identification card to escape scrutiny at various checkpoints.

Krishna reportedly has a criminal background related to narcotics.
Police said he was suspended from CISF in 2005 after being booked under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The case was registered at Dammapeta Police Station in Bhadradri Kothagudem district of Telangana.
Following the earlier case, Krishna was arrested and remanded to Khammam Jail.
However, investigators claim that despite facing criminal charges and departmental action, he allegedly resumed illegal drug trafficking activities after his release.
Hyderabad Police Continue Crackdown on Narcotics
Hyderabad Police have intensified anti-drug operations in recent months as part of efforts to dismantle interstate narcotics networks.
Officials stated that special teams are monitoring drug supply routes and increasing surveillance to prevent illegal transportation of narcotics into Telangana.
