WhatsApp Now Has 100 Million Monthly Active Users in the US: Mark Zuckerberg

San Francisco: Meta-owned WhatsApp has reached a milestone of 100 million monthly active users in the US, according to CEO Mark Zuckerberg. This is the first time the social media company has disclosed its US figures for the WhatsApp service.

Meta also revealed that over 50 percent of WhatsApp’s US users own iPhones. Globally, the popular mobile messaging service boasts over 2 billion users.

In related news, Vietnamese hackers have been linked to a WhatsApp e-challan scam in India, according to recent reports.

Earlier this month, WhatsApp introduced a new feature designed to enhance user safety in group messaging. This update, which is currently rolling out and will be available to all users in the coming weeks, includes information on who added you to a group, how recently the group was created, and who created it. These details help users decide whether to stay in or leave a group, along with providing access to safety tools to ensure security on WhatsApp.

Additionally, WhatsApp is reportedly working on new features, including a ‘communities tab’ for iPad users and an in-app dialer that will allow users to make calls directly from the app.
