BRS Faces Defeat in Panchayat Elections

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Predicts BRS’s Defeat in Panchayat Elections

Hyderabad: On Sunday, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy asserted that the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) will face a significant defeat in the forthcoming panchayat elections. In his appeal to Congress activists, he urged them to prepare diligently for the elections, emphasizing that leaders will take responsibility for ensuring their victory.

Revanth Reddy made these remarks while addressing a public gathering at Kalwakurthi in Nagarkurnool district, where he unveiled a statue of the former Union Minister S. Jaipal Reddy. He noted the visible distress among BRS leaders after losing power and criticized the opposition for not playing a constructive role, which he believes will lead to their rejection by the people in the panchayat polls.

Reflecting on the legacy of Jaipal Reddy, Revanth Reddy paid rich tributes to the late leader on his death anniversary. He highlighted Jaipal Reddy’s unwavering commitment to his principles and his dedication to public life, irrespective of whether he was in power or opposition. The Chief Minister praised Jaipal Reddy for prioritizing values in politics and for bringing honor to every position he held.

Revanth Reddy also shared his belief that the Congress would have come to power in Telangana in 2014 if Jaipal Reddy had been declared the Chief Ministerial candidate. He expressed regret that the expected results did not materialize in the Assembly elections following the formation of Telangana. He mentioned that Jaipal Reddy had been disappointed about not getting the opportunity to become the Chief Minister from Kalwakurthi.

In a historical anecdote, Revanth Reddy claimed that it was Jaipal Reddy who suggested closing the doors and cutting the live telecast during the adoption of the bill for the separate state of Telangana in the Lok Sabha.

On a different note, the Chief Minister highlighted his government’s efforts to support farmers. He announced a challenge to waive farm loans up to Rs 2 lakh by August. “We have already waived farm loans up to Rs 1 lakh. Loans up to Rs 1.50 lakh will be waived by July 31. The total loan waiver of Rs 2 lakh will be completed by the end of August,” he stated.

Furthermore, Revanth Reddy shared plans for the establishment of India Skill University in the Mucherla area, set to commence on August 1. The university, which is being developed on 50 acres at a cost of Rs 100 crore, aims to enhance skill development in the region.

He also announced a substantial investment of Rs 309 crore for the development of the Kalwakurthi constituency, including the establishment of a 100-bed hospital, to improve healthcare facilities for the local population.

In conclusion, Revanth Reddy’s speech not only focused on the upcoming panchayat elections and the predicted defeat of the BRS but also highlighted his administration’s ongoing efforts to support farmers and improve education and healthcare infrastructure in Telangana. The tributes to Jaipal Reddy underscored the importance of principled leadership and the enduring legacy of the late leader in the state’s political landscape.
