Mukesh Aghi, the president and CEO of USISPF, emphasized the importance of this collaboration during Hydrogen Day celebrations. He noted that hydrogen is a critical energy source for global decarbonization, and both countries are committed to advancing hydrogen technologies as part of their clean energy strategies.

“The United States and India have made it a priority to support each other’s hydrogen missions. Through collaboration between the public and private sectors, we can build a strong hydrogen economy in India,” Aghi said.

Green Hydrogen Mission in India

India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission is at the heart of the country’s efforts to become a global hub for green hydrogen production. Ajay Yadav, Joint Secretary at the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), highlighted the significance of the International Conference on Green Hydrogen (ICGH 2024) held in New Delhi, where the US was a partner country. The event reaffirmed both nations’ commitment to accelerating the development of the global green hydrogen ecosystem. Yadav noted that India is taking concrete steps toward a clean energy transition, with hydrogen being a major component of this effort.

Dr. Sunita Satyapal, Director of the Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Technologies Office at the US Department of Energy, emphasized the importance of this collaboration in advancing hydrogen technology. “We still have significant work to do in accelerating research and deployment of clean hydrogen technologies, and I look forward to further cooperation to achieve our goals,” Satyapal said.
