GHMC Demolishes Illegal Structures Hyd
The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) carried out the demolition of illegal structures that had encroached upon the Rukn-ud-daula lake in Shastripuram Bahadurpura on Saturday, August 10. Early in the morning, GHMC teams, with the support of Cyberabad police, arrived at Kings Colony, Bahadurpura, to initiate the demolition process.
The police had cordoned off the area, barring any outsiders from entering the colony and preventing local residents from approaching the site where the demolition was underway. The unauthorized constructions had been built within the full tank level (FTL) of the historic Rukn-ud-daula lake, which has been a subject of concern for environmental activists. These activists have been striving to protect the lake from encroachment and land grabbing.
During the demolition, Bahadurpura MLA, Mohd Mubeen, attempted to intervene but was detained by the police as they continued to bring down the illegal structures.
