KTR responds to farmhouse raid
Chaotic Governance: KTR Reacts to Farmhouse Raid
Allegations of Targeting Family
Hyderabad: Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) accused the Telangana government of “chaotic governance” and targeting his family. On Sunday, October 27, KTR criticized the government for orchestrating raids, including an operation at his brother-in-law Raj Pakala’s farmhouse, which led to the arrest of several BRS party leaders.
Political Conspiracy Claims
Speaking to reporters, KTR expressed his belief that the raids were part of a political vendetta. He stated, “The false cases are a result of exposing Revanth’s corruption, illegal activities, and failures. Despite the absence of any illegal activities on our part, a malicious campaign and political conspiracy are being directed against us by the government.” He accused the ruling Congress of resorting to these tactics as a diversion from their governance failures.
Conspiracies Against BRS Leaders
KTR accused the Congress of using false allegations to undermine BRS leaders. “Since yesterday, there has been an absurd attempt to conspire against us. BRS leaders are fighting without compromise, following the path taught by KCR. They are being slapped with false cases for exposing Revanth’s corruption and failures like the civil supplies scam and the Musi scam,” he emphasized. He reiterated that the BRS would continue to withstand political challenges, stating, “We are not afraid of Revanth Reddy’s plots.”
Clarifying the Farmhouse Raid
Addressing the raid at Raj Pakala’s farmhouse, KTR clarified that the gathering was a family event. He criticized those spreading rumors, saying, “Some people are maliciously labeling it as a ‘rave party’. The officials clearly stated that no drugs were found, so why this malicious campaign?” KTR further lamented that despite his absence at the event, false reports were circulating with his name.
Allegations of Misuse of State Machinery
BRS general secretary Soma Bharat accused the Telangana government of “misusing state machinery” to intimidate party members. He condemned the six-hour search at Raj Pakala’s residence, describing it as a politically motivated act. “The government is more focused on raids and arrests than addressing real concerns,” Bharat said, alleging that these actions were designed to undermine BRS leaders and divert public attention.
Excise Department’s Involvement and NDPS Charges
Excise and police officers reportedly broke into Raj Pakala’s residence to conduct a search as he was unavailable for questioning. Raj Pakala, initially charged with excise violations, is now named as the prime accused under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act by Mokila police. On October 26, Mokila police received information about a gathering at Pakala’s farmhouse involving unauthorized foreign liquor and drugs. Following this, a raid was conducted by the special operations team (SOT), Narsingi police, and excise officials.
Details of the Farmhouse Raid
Authorities found 22 men and 16 women at the farmhouse, some of whom attempted to escape but were apprehended. The search revealed poker paraphernalia, including poker coins, playing cards, and three aluminum briefcases filled with related items. Additionally, the excise department seized 17 bottles of unauthorized liquor. Despite these findings, KTR and other BRS leaders maintain that the event was a family gathering, and the allegations were politically driven.
Arrests of BRS Leaders
In response to the allegations and raids, BRS leaders, including Quthbullapur MLA KP Vivekanand Goud, Korutla MLA K Sanjay Kumar, Krishank, and former MLA Balka Suman, gathered at KTR’s residence. Subsequently, they were arrested by the city police. The arrests have further intensified the tensions between the BRS and the ruling government, with accusations of targeting political opponents through state machinery.
