KTR Seeks Clarity on Hyderabad Pharma City

Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) has raised serious concerns over the fate of the Hyderabad Pharma City project, which was once considered a flagship industrial initiative for Telangana. Addressing a press conference in Sircilla on Thursday, September 26, KTR alleged that the Congress-led state government is involved in a land scam worth thousands of crores of rupees, leading to the cancellation of the prestigious project.

KTR questioned the state government’s transparency in handling the Hyderabad Pharma City project, claiming that they have presented conflicting information to the public and the judiciary. He stated that while the government is claiming the project has been canceled, it has simultaneously provided a different stance in the Telangana High Court.

Contradictory Statements on Project Status

“On one hand, they claim Hyderabad Pharma City is canceled. But in the Telangana High Court, the government states otherwise. How can they mislead the judiciary like this?” KTR questioned during the press conference. His remarks highlighted the inconsistency in the government’s narrative about the Hyderabad Pharma City project.

The state government is expected to clarify its position on the project in the Telangana High Court on Friday. KTR expressed his frustration over the lack of transparency and demanded clarity on whether the Hyderabad Pharma City project is still operational or has been officially canceled.

Implications for Telangana’s Industrial Growth

KTR stressed that canceling the Hyderabad Pharma City project would severely harm Telangana’s industrial growth. “Canceling the project will not only harm the state’s industrial progress but also result in the loss of thousands of job opportunities,” he warned. The Pharma City was envisioned as a major industrial hub, and its cancellation could have far-reaching consequences for the state’s economy.

Land Acquisition and Corruption Allegations

The Hyderabad Pharma City project, proposed by the previous BRS government, was planned on a massive scale, covering 14,000 acres of land with an estimated investment of Rs 64,000 crores. According to KTR, the land was acquired under specific conditions for industrial development, and it cannot be repurposed for other projects.

“They talk about repurposing the land for future projects like Future City, AI City, and Fourth City. But have they acquired even an acre of land for these projects?” KTR asked. He emphasized that the land acquired for the Hyderabad Pharma City cannot be used for corrupt land deals or other purposes without proper land acquisition for the new projects.

Job Losses and Economic Impact

KTR voiced concerns over the potential economic fallout if the Hyderabad Pharma City project is shelved. The project was not only set to boost industrial growth in the region but was also expected to generate significant employment opportunities. Thousands of jobs would be lost if the project is canceled, he said, urging the government to reconsider its decision.

The land given by farmers for industrial development should not be used for corrupt land deals,” KTR emphasized, warning that the government’s actions could damage Telangana’s industrial future and affect the livelihoods of many people who rely on the project for jobs.

Call for Transparency and Fair Governance

KTR’s allegations reflect a broader concern about transparency and governance in the state. He demanded that the Congress-run government provide clear and consistent information regarding the Hyderabad Pharma City project. “Is the Hyderabad Pharma City still operational or not?” KTR asked repeatedly during his address.

The former IT minister urged the state government to come forward with a clear stance and avoid misleading both the judiciary and the public. He stressed that such large-scale projects should be handled with utmost transparency, especially when it involves the livelihoods of thousands of people and the state’s industrial future.
