Telangana CM Challenged Over Musi River
BJP MP Criticizes Musi Riverfront Development
In a bold move, BJP MP from Malkajgiri, Eatala Rajender, has raised concerns about the Musi riverfront development project, directly challenging Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to visit the Musi riverbed without any security. Rajender questioned the safety and effectiveness of the government’s plans, calling for transparency and accountability.
Rajender stated, “Let’s go to Chaitanyapuri or any other locality. If the residents express their support for Revanth Reddy and his government, I will resign from politics and offer an unconditional apology.” His strong words reflect the growing concerns over the government’s handling of the Musi riverfront development project.

Not Opposed to Development, But Concerned About Execution
The BJP leader clarified that while his party is not against the Musi riverfront development project, they are deeply worried about its execution. According to Rajender, many residents living near the river are fearful of what the project might bring. The concerns stem from a lack of clear communication about the project’s scope and potential impact on the local population.
Rajender emphasized that there is no Detailed Project Report (DPR), leaving both the public and the opposition in the dark about how the project will be implemented. Without a clear DPR, many worry that the Musi riverfront development project could become a source of environmental and infrastructural complications.
Comparisons with Sabarmati and Ganga Projects
In his criticism, Rajender drew comparisons between the Telangana government’s ambitious Rs. 1.5 lakh crore Musi project and other riverfront developments in India. He pointed out that the Sabarmati riverfront project was completed with Rs. 1,400 crore, while the Namame Ganga project, which is considered one of India’s most significant river clean-up initiatives, cost Rs. 20,000 crore.
He questioned why the Musi river project, aimed at improving the local environment and enhancing public spaces, has such an inflated budget. According to Rajender, this discrepancy raises red flags regarding transparency and proper utilization of public funds in the Musi riverfront development project.
Public Discontent with Government Performance
Rajender also criticized the Congress government for its overall performance since taking office. He noted that in just nine months, Revanth Reddy’s administration has faced public backlash over various issues, ranging from water management to housing and development.
The BJP leader urged the Telangana government to stop diverting attention from these key issues and focus on delivering on its promises. He specifically highlighted the six guarantees made by the Congress party during the election campaign, urging them to act on these pledges rather than getting caught up in high-cost projects like the Musi riverfront development project.

Challenge to Visit Musi Riverbed Without Security
Rajender’s challenge to the Telangana CM is rooted in the belief that the government is out of touch with the concerns of the people. He questioned whether the CM would dare to visit areas like Chaitanyapuri, which are close to the Musi riverbed, without the protection of security forces. According to Rajender, if the residents are genuinely happy with the Musi riverfront development project, then the CM should have no hesitation in accepting his challenge.
The BJP MP added that if Revanth Reddy accepted the challenge and found that the people were in favor of the government’s plans, he would immediately resign from politics and offer a public apology. His bold stance underscores the depth of opposition and skepticism regarding the project.
Conclusion: Calls for Accountability
As the Musi riverfront development project continues to spark debate, it is clear that political figures like Eatala Rajender are not willing to let the issue go unnoticed. His challenge to Telangana CM Revanth Reddy has heightened public interest and drawn attention to the lack of clarity and communication surrounding the project.
For now, the challenge remains open, with Rajender awaiting a response from the Telangana CM. Whether or not this confrontation will lead to greater transparency and accountability in the project’s execution remains to be seen.
