UP Woman Molested by Ambulance Driver, Helper;

Husband’s Life Support Removed

In a tragic and shocking incident in Siddharthnagar, Uttar Pradesh, a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted by the driver and helper of a private ambulance she had hired to transport her terminally ill husband home. The incident, which took place on the evening of August 29, has left the victim and her family devastated, as the perpetrators not only harassed her but also disconnected the oxygen support keeping her husband alive, leading to his death.

Financial Struggles Lead to Tragic Decision

The woman’s husband had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Lucknow. Facing severe financial constraints, she made the difficult decision to discharge him from the hospital and take him home, hoping to care for him there. To facilitate this, she arranged for a private ambulance to transport her husband back home, a decision that would tragically cost her dearly.

Assault During the Journey

According to the woman’s complaint, the nightmare began as they were on their way home. The driver and his helper allegedly began harassing her during the journey. As the harassment escalated, she resisted their advances, but this only led to further danger. The driver, in a shocking act of cruelty, stopped the ambulance in Basti district, approximately 150 kilometers from their destination.

Forced Out and Abandoned

At this point, the driver and the helper forced the woman, her brother, and her terminally ill husband out of the vehicle. The perpetrators not only abandoned the family in a vulnerable state but also disconnected the oxygen support that was crucial for her husband’s survival. The family was left stranded on the side of the road, with the woman desperately trying to save her husband’s life.

Desperate Search for Help

In a state of panic and desperation, the woman immediately contacted the local police. Understanding the gravity of the situation, the police acted swiftly, arranging for another ambulance to transport her husband to Gorakhpur Medical College. However, the delay and the removal of his life support proved fatal. Upon arrival at the medical facility, her husband was pronounced dead.

Filing the Police Complaint

The grief-stricken woman returned to Lucknow and, on Wednesday, filed a police complaint against the ambulance driver and his helper at the Ghazipur Police Station. The complaint details the horrifying events that transpired during the journey and the tragic loss of her husband due to the callous actions of the accused.

Police Response and Ongoing Investigation

The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) of Lucknow, Jitendra Kumar Dubey,  has confirmed that a case has been registered based on the woman’s complaint. “We have lodged a case regarding the incident on the basis of the complaint registered by the woman. Our teams are trying to arrest the accused,” Dubey stated. The police have launched an intensive search to apprehend the driver and helper, who are now on the run.

A Community in Shock

The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and beyond. The brazen nature of the crime, committed by individuals entrusted with the care of a terminally ill patient, has sparked outrage. The case highlights not only the vulnerability of patients and their families but also the urgent need for stricter regulations and oversight in the operation of private ambulance services.

Legal and Social Implications

As the investigation continues, this case may lead to broader discussions about the safety and regulation of private medical transport services. The woman’s ordeal underscores the risks that individuals, especially women, face when relying on these services in emergencies. The legal proceedings that will follow are expected to be closely watched, as the public and authorities demand justice for the victim and her deceased husband.

Seeking Justice

The woman, now grieving the loss of her husband, is also fighting for justice. Her courage in coming forward and reporting the crime is commendable, and it is hoped that the legal system will respond with the seriousness that such a heinous crime demands. The case serves as a grim reminder of the dangers that still exist for vulnerable individuals and the need for continued vigilance and reform to protect those in need.
