21 Parks in Hyderabad to Get Themed Makeover
Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to transform 21 parks in the city’s Central Zone, specifically the Khairatabad zone, into theme-based public spaces. This significant initiative will cover five GHMC circles: Jubilee Hills, Goshamahal, Mehdipatnam, Karwan, and Khairatabad.
Thematic Transformation and Beautification
The transformation will include comprehensive beautification works, designated walking areas, tree plantations, paver block pathways, and recreational facilities like yoga and meditation zones. GHMC officials have stated that a consultancy firm will be hired to prepare concept plans, designs, and themes for developing the parks. The selected firm will provide complete architectural and interior design services, with the project expected to be completed within six months of signing the agreement.
Parks Undergoing Makeover
The enhancement project will see eight parks in the Khairatabad circle and Jubilee Hills each, three in Mehdipatnam, and one each in Karwan and Goshamahal undergo significant improvements. Some of the notable parks to be transformed include:
- KBR Park (17 acres)
- Herbal Garden (12 acres)
- Feroz Gandhi Park (1 acre)
- Jalagam Vengal Rao Park (10 acres)
- Chacha Nehru Park (12 acres)
- K Laxmi Narayana Yadav Park (8 acres)
- Kamalapuri Park (2 acres)
- Butterfly Park (2 acres)
- Red Hills City Level Park (1.2 acres)
- Nehru Park (1 acre)
Objectives of the Initiative
The primary goal of this initiative is to enhance the city’s green spaces, providing residents with improved recreational facilities and promoting a healthier lifestyle. GHMC officials emphasize that the transformation will not only beautify the parks but also create thematic zones that cater to various activities and interests of the public.
Improving Recreational Facilities
Each park will be designed with unique themes and features to cater to different age groups and preferences. This will include dedicated walking and jogging tracks, children’s play areas, fitness zones, yoga and meditation spaces, and areas for community gatherings. Tree plantations and landscaping will further enhance the aesthetic appeal of these parks, making them more inviting and conducive to outdoor activities.
Health and Wellness Promotion
The development of these themed parks aligns with the city’s broader objective of promoting health and wellness among its residents. By providing well-maintained, accessible green spaces, the GHMC aims to encourage outdoor activities, physical fitness, and mental well-being. The yoga and meditation zones, in particular, are expected to attract individuals seeking tranquility and a space for mindfulness practices.
Community Engagement and Environmental Benefits
In addition to promoting health and wellness, the themed parks will serve as vital community hubs. They will offer spaces for social interactions, cultural events, and community gatherings, fostering a sense of belonging and community spirit. The increased tree plantations and green cover will also contribute to environmental sustainability by improving air quality and providing habitats for local wildlife.
Future Prospects
The GHMC’s initiative to transform these 21 parks is a significant step towards creating a more livable and sustainable urban environment in Hyderabad. As the consultancy firm works on the concept plans and designs, residents can look forward to seeing their local parks evolve into vibrant, thematic spaces that offer a blend of beauty, functionality, and community value. The successful completion of this project will likely pave the way for similar initiatives in other parts of the city, further enhancing Hyderabad’s green infrastructure and overall quality of life.
