Allu Arjun Donates 25lac for Kerala Relief
Telugu superstar Allu Arjun is the latest film personality to contribute to the Chief Minister’s Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) for rehabilitation efforts in the landslide-hit Wayanad district in Kerala. The catastrophic landslide that struck Wayanad on July 30 has claimed 219 lives, according to state government reports.
Expressing his sorrow and solidarity, Allu Arjun took to social media to announce his donation. In his post, he acknowledged the love and support he has always received from Kerala and expressed his desire to give back to the state during this difficult time. “I am deeply saddened by the recent landslide in Wayanad. Kerala has always given me so much love, and I want to do my bit by donating Rs 25 lakh to the Kerala CM Relief Fund to support the rehabilitation work. Praying for your safety and strength,” wrote the “Pushpa: The Rise” star.
Allu Arjun’s contribution follows a wave of donations from the film industry, demonstrating a collective effort to support the affected region. On Saturday, Malayalam cinema veteran Mohanlal, who also serves as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Territorial Army, visited Wayanad in his Army uniform and pledged Rs 3 crore towards the rehabilitation efforts. He shared a heartfelt message on social media, emphasizing the deep impact of the devastation: “The devastation in Wayanad is a deep wound that will take time to heal. Every home lost and life disrupted is a personal tragedy.” Mohanlal visited the Army camp at Meppadi, held discussions with officers, and proceeded to the landslide-hit zone.
In addition to Allu Arjun and Mohanlal, several other prominent actors from the Tamil and Malayalam film industries have also made significant contributions. Tamil actors Kamal Haasan, Suriya, Jyotika, Karthi, Vikram, Nayanthara, and Vignesh Shivan, along with Malayalam stars Mammootty, Dulquer Salmaan, Fahadh Faasil, Nazriya, and Tovino Thomas, have donated to the CMDRF. Kamal Haasan contributed Rs 25 lakh, while Jyotika, Suriya, and Karthi collectively donated Rs 50 lakh. Mammootty donated Rs 20 lakh, Dulquer Salmaan Rs 15 lakh, and Tovino Thomas Rs 25 lakh. Fahadh Faasil and Nazriya each contributed Rs 25 lakh.
Noted filmmaker Anand Patwardhan also donated Rs 2.2 lakh, the prize money he received at the 16th International Documentary and Short Film Festival of Kerala (IDSFFK).
These contributions highlight the solidarity and compassion of the film community towards the people of Wayanad during this tragic time. The collective efforts of these celebrities are aimed at accelerating the rehabilitation process and providing much-needed relief to the victims.
The Kerala government’s efforts to manage the disaster and support the affected population have been bolstered by these generous donations. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has expressed his gratitude towards all the contributors, emphasizing the importance of collective action in overcoming such tragedies.
The Wayanad landslide has been one of the most devastating natural disasters in recent times, leaving behind a trail of destruction and loss. The support from celebrities and the general public is crucial in rebuilding the lives and homes of those affected. The relief fund will be utilized to provide immediate assistance to the victims, including medical care, shelter, and basic necessities, as well as long-term rehabilitation projects aimed at restoring normalcy in the region.
As the state continues to grapple with the aftermath of the landslide, the outpouring of support from various quarters provides a glimmer of hope. The resilience and unity displayed by the community, along with the support from prominent figures, underline the spirit of togetherness in the face of adversity.
In conclusion, Allu Arjun’s donation to the Kerala CM Relief Fund, along with contributions from other film personalities, underscores the importance of solidarity and compassion in times of crisis. Their generous acts of kindness are a testament to the power of collective efforts in bringing relief and hope to those in need.
