Bengaluru is set to witness a significant boost in its water supply as the Karnataka government prepares to launch the Cauvery Phase 5 Bengaluru project on October 16, 2024. The fifth phase is set to benefit an additional 50 lakh (5 million) residents.” The launch event will take place at Torekadanahalli, where the new phase will be inaugurated.

The Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) has played a vital role in the success of the Cauvery Phase 5 Bengaluru project. According to BWSSB engineers, the city of Bengaluru predominantly relies on water from the Cauvery river. To date, the BWSSB has facilitated 10.64 lakh water connections in Bengaluru, with an additional 4 lakh connections expected to be provided through this new phase.
Additional Lighting for Dasara Celebrations in Mysuru
In addition to discussing the Cauvery Phase 5 Bengaluru project, Deputy CM Shivakumar also announced special lighting arrangements in Mysuru city for the upcoming Dasara festival. The lighting will be extended for 12 days to enhance the festive atmosphere. Reflecting on his time as the power minister, Shivakumar remarked, “It is being arranged wonderfully, I am telling you when I was in charge earlier as the power minister, these kinds of arrangements were not made.”
