Hyderabad: Former Pargi MLA Koppula Mahesh Reddy was taken into preventive custody by Vikarabad police on Friday while he was reportedly on his way to Kadlapur village in Pargi mandal.
The detention occurred when the former legislator attempted to participate in an ongoing farmers’ hunger strike opposing the state government’s alleged plans to establish an industrial park in the region. Officials reportedly requested him to accompany them in a police vehicle, citing preventive reasons. However, Mahesh Reddy strongly objected to the move, arguing that he was only heading to his residence in Pargi.
He reportedly told the police that they were welcome to accompany him in his own vehicle if security concerns existed.

The police allegedly insisted that he either hand over the vehicle to police personnel or accompany them separately in a police vehicle. Mahesh Reddy questioned the action and expressed anger over being stopped.
