Historic Loan Waiver Achieved in Record Time

The CM revealed that loans totaling Rs 20,616.89 crore have been waived off for 25,35,964 farmers across the state. Describing it as a national milestone, he emphasized that this achievement was completed within just 11 months.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Reddy asked farmers not to fall for the propaganda of the ‘Mareechas’, a mythological figure who comes in disguise to kidnap Sita in Ramayana, comparing the opposition parties with him. “Don’t believe them irrespective of what form they come in,” he said.

Rumors Dismissed by the CM

Addressing concerns about rumors regarding Rythu Bharosa, the CM urged people not to fall for opposition propaganda. He reassured farmers that the scheme, envisioned by Sonia Gandhi, would be implemented without fail.
He criticized opposition leaders, comparing them to mythical figures like Mareechas and Sudamus, who mislead people with false promises. “Beware of the Mareechas coming in disguise as BJP and BRS leaders,” he warned.

Comparison with Rythu Bandhu Scheme

The Rythu Bharosa Telangana CM initiative promises Rs 15,000 per acre annually to farmers, surpassing the Rs 10,000 provided under the previous Rythu Bandhu scheme launched by the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government.
The report from the Cabinet Sub-Committee, led by Deputy CM Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, will be tabled in the Assembly to finalize the implementation process.

BRS Government Criticized for Betraying Farmers

The CM lambasted the BRS government for its failure to uphold promises made to farmers. He pointed out that the Congress government had cleared loans that were renewed during December 2018, a responsibility neglected by the previous administration.

Announcing that the farm loan waiver of ₹2 lakh was the largest ever benefit in the country since Independence in any government, he challenged the BJP and BRS leaders to come for a debate. Loans up to ₹2 lakh totalling to ₹20,616.89 crore of 25,35,964 farmers have been waived off with the final instalment given on Saturday from the Mahabubnagar meeting.

Revanth also accused the BRS government of misleading farmers, claiming that it waived loans amounting to Rs 11,909.31 crore before the 2023 Assembly elections but deducted Rs 8,578.97 crore as interest, leaving only Rs 3,331 crore from the principal amount waived. Additionally, Rs 1,419.74 crore earmarked for 2,26,342 farmers was never waived.

Focus on Paddy Procurement and Bonuses

Highlighting the government’s efforts in paddy procurement, the CM announced that the state has procured 31 lakh tonnes of paddy so far. He assured that the Rs 500 bonus for fine-grain paddy varieties, such as Telangana Sona, BPT, and HMT, will continue in the upcoming Rabi season.
Farmers were advised to grow these varieties, as the state plans to distribute them through fair-price shops, social welfare schools, hostels, Anganwadi centers, and mid-day meal schemes in government schools.

Countering Misconceptions on Bonus Payments

The CM criticized political forces for spreading misinformation about the Rs 500 bonus provided to farmers. He reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting farmers and confirmed that bonuses would be extended to the next season as well.

Strengthening Farmer Welfare in Telangana

The Rythu Bharosa Telangana CM initiative, coupled with the loan waiver and paddy procurement policies, reflects the government’s commitment to improving farmers’ lives. With a vision to address agricultural challenges and enhance productivity, the CM assured continued support for Telangana’s farming community.
