The Cyberabad traffic police launched a significant crackdown on drunken driving, apprehending 509 individuals over a two-day period from Friday, August 3, to Saturday, August 4. The majority of those booked were two-wheeler riders, totaling 414. Additionally, 22 autorickshaw drivers, 67 four-wheeler drivers, and six heavy vehicle operators were found driving under the influence of alcohol.
In a detailed press release, the traffic police highlighted the severity of the situation, emphasizing that driving under the influence is a serious offense under Section 185 of the Motor Vehicles Act. This section carries a penalty of Rs. 10,000 and/or six months imprisonment.
