Travel Influencer Dies After Fall
Travel influencer Aanvi Kamdar, 27, tragically died after falling into a 300-foot gorge near Mumbai while filming an Instagram Reel. On July 16, Kamdar, a Mumbai-based chartered accountant who shared her travel experiences under the handle @theglocaljournal, visited the renowned Kumbhe waterfall in Maharashtra’s Raigad district with a group of friends.
While recording a video, Kamdar slipped and fell into the gorge, according to a Mangaon police station official. Her friends immediately notified local authorities, prompting a swift response from the Coast Guard, Kolad rescue team, and Maharashtra State Electricity Board staff, as reported by NDTV.
Rescue teams faced significant challenges, including heavy rainfall and falling rocks, complicating the operation. Kamdar was extracted after a six-hour effort using a vertical pulley system, but she sustained severe injuries. Despite being rushed to Mangaon taluka government hospital, she passed away on July 17.
Kamdar, who also worked as a chartered accountant previously employed by Deloitte, was known for her engaging travel content focusing on accommodations, itineraries, and luxury experiences. With over 250,000 followers, her monsoon travel posts were particularly popular.
Authorities advise tourists to exercise extreme caution when visiting waterfalls during the monsoon season.
