UP Implements Kanwar Yatra Regulations

The Uttar Pradesh government has taken a significant step ahead of the upcoming Kanwar Yatra, implementing new guidelines to ensure a safe and peaceful pilgrimage experience. Effective immediately, the display of weapons such as spears and tridents by Kanwariyas has been prohibited, aiming to enhance security along the Yatra routes. This advisory also includes the closure of liquor and meat shops along these paths, reinforcing a more conducive environment for religious observance.

Moreover, the use of DJs and religious songs will be allowed, albeit under strict volume limits specified by Supreme Court directives. This measure aims to balance the spiritual ambiance of the Yatra with the need to respect local noise regulations.

In preparation for the month-long Yatra starting from July 22nd to August 19th, the Director General of Police, Prashant Kumar, has announced adjustments to traffic management. Heavy vehicles will be restricted from certain routes and expressways during the Yatra period, beginning at midnight on July 21st. This move aims to streamline traffic flow and ensure the safety of pilgrims.

To bolster security measures, CCTV cameras and drones will be deployed for monitoring throughout the Yatra routes. Additionally, authorities are collaborating closely with registered organizations to facilitate roadside camps offering essential amenities such as food, water, and lodging for devotees.

These proactive steps underscore the state’s commitment to facilitating a harmonious Kanwar Yatra while prioritizing public safety and compliance with regulatory norms.
