Moinabad mosque demolition
Hyderabad: Tension prevailed in Moinabad on Monday after some individuals demolished a centuries-old Qutb Shahi era mosque. According to DCP Ch. Srinivas of the Rajendranagar zone, a JCB driver was responsible for the demolition. The driver has been arrested, and the JCB earthmover has been seized. Special teams are actively searching for others involved in the incident.
A complaint was lodged at the Moinabad police station, prompting a swift response from the police. Principal Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department, Tafseer Iqbal, stated that upon receiving the information, department officials inspected the site. They have lodged a complaint and registered a case.
In response to the incident, the foundation for a new mosque was laid, and namaz (prayer) was conducted in the evening. Iqbal assured that the mosque would be reconstructed at the earliest opportunity.
Key officials, including AIMIM MLC Rahmath Baig, TEMRIS Charminar Faheem Qureshi, and TG Wakf Board Chairman Azmathullah Hussain, visited the site. The police presence in Moinabad has been increased to maintain order and ensure security.
