Focus On Studies, We Will Conduct Re-NEET Smoothly: Pradhan

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has reassured lakhs of students appearing for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination that the government has taken extraordinary precautions to ensure the examination is conducted smoothly, securely, and without any errors.

Addressing concerns following the cancellation of the earlier examination due to allegations of a paper leak, the minister urged students to concentrate on their studies and avoid unnecessary anxiety.

Focus on your studies. We will conduct the re-NEET smoothly and without errors,” Pradhan said while reviewing preparations at the National Testing Agency (NTA) headquarters in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 9.

The re-examination is scheduled to be conducted on June 21, 2026, across India and selected international locations.

Why Was NEET-UG 2026 Cancelled?

The original NEET-UG 2026 examination, conducted on May 3, was cancelled by the National Testing Agency (NTA) after allegations of a large-scale paper leak surfaced.

The cancellation came on May 12, creating panic, frustration, and uncertainty among nearly 23 lakh medical aspirants across the country.

The controversy sparked nationwide outrage as students who had spent years preparing for one of India’s toughest entrance examinations found themselves forced to prepare for another attempt.

The government later announced that a re-test would be conducted on June 21 to ensure fairness and transparency.

Government Reviewing Preparations Closely

Dharmendra Pradhan said the government has reviewed the examination preparations multiple times and is closely monitoring every stage of the process.

Speaking to reporters after his visit to the NTA headquarters, the minister emphasized that the administration is leaving no room for mistakes.

“We have reviewed preparations several times. Today, I personally visited the NTA headquarters to assess the arrangements,” he said.

According to Pradhan, authorities have strengthened protocols at every level — from question paper preparation to delivery at examination centres.

Additional Security Measures Implemented

To avoid a repeat of the earlier controversy, the government has reportedly introduced additional precautions.

Pradhan stated that enhanced security measures have been put in place regarding:

  • Preparation of question papers
  • Printing and logistics
  • Secure transportation
  • Distribution to examination centres
  • Software monitoring and cybersecurity
  • Coordination with law enforcement agencies

“From the preparation of question papers to ensuring timely delivery at examination centres, additional precautions have been taken,” the minister said.

Officials are reportedly working around the clock to ensure that examination papers remain secure.

Indian Air Force May Transport Question Papers

One of the most significant security upgrades being considered is the possible involvement of the Indian Air Force (IAF) in transporting NEET question papers.

According to official sources, the NTA is planning to use IAF aircraft to securely transport confidential examination materials across the country.

The decision comes amid concerns regarding logistics vulnerabilities that may have contributed to the earlier alleged paper leak.

The use of military-grade transport is expected to strengthen security and reduce the chances of tampering or unauthorized access.

Although the plan has not yet been officially confirmed in detail, sources suggest authorities are treating examination security as a national priority.

Coordination With States Intensified

Pradhan revealed that the central government has written to all state governments, seeking full cooperation for the smooth conduct of the examination.

He said meetings have already been conducted under the supervision of the Cabinet Secretary, and states have been instructed to intensify preparations.

The minister stated that chief secretaries, police chiefs, district collectors, and senior administrative officials have been brought into the process.

Several states have already held review meetings involving:

  • District Magistrates (DMs)
  • Superintendents of Police (SPs)
  • Chief Secretaries
  • Education officials
  • NTA representatives

Pradhan cited examples from Bihar, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, where senior leadership reportedly held meetings to review preparedness.

NTA Strengthened After Controversy

Following criticism over the earlier NEET controversy, the government has strengthened the functioning of the National Testing Agency.

According to Pradhan, new officers have been inducted at multiple administrative levels, including:

  • Joint Secretary
  • Director
  • Deputy Director

The newly appointed officials have reportedly been assigned specialized responsibilities.

Some officers are managing:

Logistics

Ensuring safe transportation of exam papers.

Printing Oversight

Monitoring confidential printing operations.

Air Force Coordination

Managing secure delivery systems.

Banking Coordination

Handling financial and operational logistics.

Software Security

Preventing cyber threats and digital vulnerabilities.

The minister said both experienced and newly inducted officials are working together to avoid operational lapses.

Cybersecurity Agencies On High Alert

Given concerns over cyber vulnerabilities and data leaks, multiple agencies have been deployed to secure digital infrastructure.

Pradhan stated that several national agencies are now working together, including:

  • CERT-In (Indian Computer Emergency Response Team)
  • I4C (Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre)
  • Intelligence Bureau (IB)
  • Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI)
  • Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY)
  • Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA)

“All cyber protection agencies have been brought together and assigned responsibilities,” the minister said.

The aim is to prevent hacking, software manipulation, or any digital compromise.

Exam To Be Conducted Across 551 Cities

The NEET re-examination will be conducted at an enormous scale.

According to official details, the test will take place in:

  • 551 cities in India
  • 14 international centres outside India
  • 5,435 examination centres

Managing an examination of this size remains a major logistical challenge, especially following the recent controversy.

However, Pradhan expressed confidence that authorities would succeed.

“We have taken this responsibility seriously. The NTA will certainly succeed in conducting the re-examination,” he said.

‘Focus On Your Studies’: Message To Students

One of the minister’s key messages was aimed directly at anxious students and parents.

Acknowledging the emotional stress caused by the cancellation of the earlier examination, Pradhan urged aspirants to remain calm and continue their preparation.

“We had assured students earlier that we would conduct an error-free examination. I assure them once again,” he said.

He added that authorities are committed to ensuring timely declaration of results so students do not lose valuable academic time.

The minister emphasized:

“Focus on your studies. We will conduct the re-NEET smoothly and without errors.”

The reassurance comes as students continue to battle uncertainty, pressure, and emotional stress after months of preparation.

Weather Conditions To Be Considered

The government has also directed states to factor in local weather conditions while making examination arrangements.

Authorities have been instructed to ensure:

  • Safe transportation routes
  • Backup power arrangements
  • Proper seating facilities
  • Emergency preparedness during rains or heatwaves

District-level officers are being asked to monitor conditions and identify areas requiring special attention.

Pradhan said the NTA Director General is directly interacting with district collectors to coordinate arrangements.

CBI Probe Into Paper Leak Continues

Meanwhile, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its probe into the alleged irregularities that led to the cancellation of the original examination.

The minister said the agency is trying to determine:

  • What exactly went wrong
  • Who was responsible
  • How the leak occurred
  • Whether criminal networks were involved

Pradhan said strict action would be taken against anyone found guilty.

“Their criminal liability should be established. They should face speedy trials and exemplary punishment,” he said.

PM Modi Monitoring Situation

Pradhan also revealed that the issue is receiving attention at the highest levels of government.

According to him, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is personally monitoring the situation.

The minister said discussions have been held with:

  • Home Minister Amit Shah
  • Defence Minister Rajnath Singh
  • Health Minister JP Nadda
  • Officials from the Finance Ministry

He said the government is committed to restoring the trust of students and parents.

Conclusion

With the NEET-UG 2026 re-exam scheduled for June 21, the government has promised a secure, transparent, and error-free process after the controversy surrounding the earlier cancelled examination.

Enhanced security, tighter logistics, cyber monitoring, coordination with states, and possible use of the Indian Air Force indicate the seriousness with which authorities are approaching the issue.

For millions of aspirants, however, the biggest challenge remains maintaining focus amid uncertainty.

As Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan reassures students, the message from the government remains clear: focus on preparation, the system will take care of the rest.
